SiriusXT is pleased to announce its participation in the 21st International Microscopy Congress (IMC21), taking place in Liverpool, UK, from 31 August to 4 September 2026.
Held every four years under the auspices of the International Federation of Societies for Microscopy (IFSM), IMC is one of the world’s premier microscopy events. The congress brings together thousands of researchers, instrument developers and technology innovators from across the life sciences, physical sciences and materials science communities to present the latest advances in microscopy and imaging. Beyond showcasing cutting-edge research, IMC provides an important international forum for collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of new scientific partnerships.
One of the major themes shaping modern microscopy is Imaging Across Scales—the ability to combine complementary imaging technologies to understand biological systems from the whole-cell level through to molecular resolution. As researchers increasingly adopt correlative imaging workflows, laboratory Soft X-ray Tomography (SXT) is emerging as a key technology that bridges the resolution gap between fluorescence microscopy and cryo-electron microscopy.
Unlike electron microscopy, which typically requires thin sections or lamellae, Soft X-ray Tomography images intact vitrified cells in three dimensions. This provides the cellular context needed to identify regions of interest, guide downstream cryo-electron tomography experiments and place molecular-resolution observations within the architecture of the entire cell.
At IMC21, SiriusXT will demonstrate how the SXT-100 is enabling these next-generation imaging workflows by combining the accessibility of a laboratory instrument with capabilities that have traditionally been available only at large-scale synchrotron facilities.
Visitors to Booth #324 will have the opportunity to learn how laboratory Soft X-ray Tomography can be used both as a powerful stand-alone imaging modality and as a central component of correlative cryo-light, X-ray and electron microscopy (CLXM/CLEXM) workflows.
