An overarching theme of biology is that structure determines function. This explains the importance that cell biologist place on being able to image a cell’s structure in it’s natural environment and it’s natural state.

SiriusXT’s SXT-100 Soft X-ray Microscope is the only laboratory-scale instrument that is capable of imaging the whole internal structure of intact biological cells in their native state with nanometer resolution, without needing to slice the cell or add contrast-enhancing agents. It is the ideal instrument to allow cell biologists to correlate cell structure with cell function.

Cell Bio is the leading international conference that cell biologists attend to learn the latest in science and technology focusing on the study of cell structure and cell function. SiriusXT and some collaborators who have used the SXT-100 in cell biology research are pleased to present their research findings at Cell Bio 2024, which will take place in San Diego from December 14th to 18th next.

⭐Professor Maija Vihinen-Ranta, from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, will present a poster on how the Herpes virus manipulates the nuclear structure of a cell and impacts its function.

⭐Dr. Szymon Manka, from University College London, will present his research findings on how the structure of primary neurons are impacted by the spread of prions in the neuron.

⭐Dr Kenneth Fahy, from SiriusXT will present on how the SXT-100 provides a 3D nanometer-resolution view of whole-cell structure, highlighting the shape, size and distribution of organelle within the cell or of multiple cells when imaging a tissue slice.

Cell Bio 2024 is the joint meeting of the American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) and European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). It takes place at the San Diego Convention Centre from December 14th to 18th next.
