A Busy Summer of Conferences for SiriusXT:  – reflecting a growing role for Soft X-ray Tomography in biological imaging.

November 02, 2025

As the biological imaging community increasingly embraces multiscale and multimodal approaches, Soft X-ray Tomography (SXT) is emerging as a key technology for bridging the gap between high-resolution molecular imaging and large-scale cellular and tissue imaging.

This summer, SiriusXT will be presenting and exhibiting at a wide range of international conferences spanning cryo-electron microscopy, electron tomography, volume electron microscopy, X-ray microscopy, correlative imaging, and advanced biological imaging. Our conference schedule stretches from Tokyo and Barcelona to Melbourne, London, Milwaukee, Madison, Liverpool, Campinas, and Beijing, reflecting the growing global interest in imaging across scales.

Historically, researchers have relied on separate imaging techniques to answer different biological questions. Electron microscopy provides exquisite molecular and ultrastructural detail, while light microscopy offers larger fields of view and functional information. Soft X-ray Tomography is increasingly recognised as the missing link between these modalities, providing three-dimensional imaging of intact, vitrified cells and tissues with native contrast at tens-of-nanometre resolution.

This capability is proving particularly valuable in correlative imaging workflows, where SXT helps researchers navigate seamlessly from whole tissues and organoids, through individual cells, and onwards to targeted cryo-electron tomography investigations. By providing volume context and enabling efficient identification of rare biological events, SXT is helping researchers connect biological structure and function across multiple spatial scales.

The breadth of conferences in which SiriusXT will participate this year demonstrates how rapidly awareness of the technology is expanding beyond traditional X-ray microscopy communities. Increasingly, researchers in cryo-EM, volume electron microscopy, structural biology, cell biology, drug discovery, nanomedicine, and tissue imaging are recognising the value of Soft X-ray Tomography as part of an integrated imaging ecosystem.

We look forward to meeting colleagues, collaborators, and new users throughout the summer as we share the latest advances in Soft X-ray Tomography and discuss how imaging across scales is transforming our understanding of biology and disease.
